Pentax Espio 35mm camera w/ case (serial 4710980)
The Pentax Espio (sometimes referred to as the Espio AF Zoom) is a high-quality compact 35mm point-and-shoot camera first released in 1992. This camera was very well-received and the Espio name continued to used for high-end zoom models until the end of Pentax's compact film camera production in 2005.
This camera was the recommended camera in its class in the 1993 Collins Complete Guide to Photography. Here's how it was described:
The top-of-the-market, push-button Pentax Espio has a
35-70mm zoom lens, a wide range of flash functions and a multiple-exposure control, among other automated features. Its advanced shutter control includes a facility for programming shooting at intervals of three minutes or one hour. It is an attractive and versatile camera.
The Espio requires a CR123 lithium battery for power (available as an option). A Pentax case is included.
The camera was tested with a battery and film installed and all major functions are working well (we didn't develop the film). We verified the camera's true film plane focus accuracy with an autocollimator and confirmed its exposure accuracy using a calibrated light source. The camera is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos). The included original case shows significant cosmetic wear (see photo).
