Pentax PC-5000 AF 35mm camera (serial 8554250)
Pentax PC-5000 AF 35mm camera (serial 8554250)
Released in 2001, the Pentax PC-5000 AF is one of the company's last film point-and-shoots. Here's how it was described in catalogs:
"The PC-5000 features a reliable autofocus system, a high-quality 28mm wide-angle lens, an auto flash with “red-eye” reduction function and a large, bright viewfinder. Its simple, automated operation allows you to take beautiful pictures with great ease in a wide variety of situations."
It requires 2 AA batteries (not included). The original case is included.
All functions of the camera were tested with a battery installed and film running (to verify the film drive motor). The film was not developed. We verified both the camera's autofocus and autoexposure are working correctly. The camera is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos).
Here are some pictures that other people have taken with this model of camera (note: some of the photos are experimental double-exposures which can only be done if you run a roll of film through the camera twice): https://www.lomography.com/cameras/3343560-pentax-pc-5000/photos?order=recent
We weren't able to locate the manual for the PC-5000 AF but we found this feature list from an archived Pentax catalog:
- Consisting of high-quality optical glass elements, the built-in 28mm wide-angle lens produces outstanding images for a wide variety of subjects. Its wide-angle coverage is ideal for capturing group shots and landscapes with great clarity and sharpness.
- The autofocus system automatically adjusts focus at the optimal point between the minimum focusing distance of 0.8 meters (2.6 feet) and infinity to produce sharply focused images.
- In order to conserve batteries, the PC-5000 automatically shuts the power off when the camera is left unused for more than three minutes.
- The built-in auto flash automatically discharges under poor lighting conditions to provide sufficient fill-in illumination on the subject. Its “red-eye” reduction function* helps to reduce the occurrence of annoying red spots in the subject’s eyes. * This feature does not eliminate “red eyes” in all instances.
- The large image area of the viewfinder lets you observe subtle changes in the subject’s expressions clearly and accurately.
- The built-in electronic self-timer delays shutter release by 10 seconds, allowing you to take a self-portrait or join in a group shot.
- Type: 35mm autofocus lens-shutter camera with auto flash.
