Minolta Hi-Matic AF2 35mm camera w/ case (serial 2897257) | film🎞tested
The Minolta Hi Matic AF2 is a classic early 80s auto-focus point-and-shoot 35mm camera. It's very easy to use and takes superb photos. Its fast and sharp 38mm f2.8 lens makes it an excellent camera for street/party photography (for example, much of Ricky Powell's classic NYC street photography was shot using a Hi Matic AF2).Â
It has focus/flash icons and a subtle beeping warning to prevent you taking out-of-focus or unexposed pictures. The camera is powered by two ordinary AA batteries. Unlike most other vintage point-and-shoot cameras, the Hi-Matic AF2 allows the use of rechargeable batteries.
Note: It's a very easy camera to use but one function sometimes confuses new users: when you first load the film (and before you take your first photo), you need to crank the film advance lever repeatedly until it locks and the number 1 Â appears in frame counter window.
The camera is powered by 2 ordinary AA batteries (not included). A Minolta 'ever-ready' case is included.
Condition notes
The camera is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos) and is working perfectly. It was tested with film and it delivered sharp, correctly exposed photos. In addition, we verified the camera's film plane focus with an autocollimator and we confirmed the auto-exposure accuracy using a calibrated light and a shutter tester.Â
